Ingredients

2 1/4 c
flour
2 tsp
ground ginger
1 tsp
baking soda
3/4 tsp
ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp
ground cloves
1/4 tsp
salt
3/4 c
butter, softened
1 c
sugar
1
egg
1 Tbsp
water
1/4 c
molasses
2 Tbsp
sugar, set aside

How to Make Soft Ginger Molasses Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Stir in water and molasses.
  • 2Sift flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt and gradually stir into the molasses mixture.
  • 3Shape dough into walnut sized balls and roll into the 2 Tbsp. sugar. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased sheet and flatten slightly.
  • 4Bake in preheated 350 degrees oven for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes then transfer to wire rack to cool completely. Store in airtight container.
