grandma's chocolate chip cookies
This is a recipe that was found handwritten on a recipe card stuck between the pages of one of my grandmother's old cookbooks. My mother has been using this recipe since 1977 when she first found it.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package milk chocolate chips
How To Make grandma's chocolate chip cookies

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, shortening, brown and regular sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.

Step 3In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add dry mixture slowly to the wet mixture and mix until well-blended.

Step 4Stir in chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans if desired. Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes.

Step 5Drop onto greased or parchment lined cookie sheets, leaving 1 1/2 to 2 inches between cookies.

Step 6Bake at 375 for 8 - 10 minutes or till done. Remove from cookie sheet and place to cool on wire rack.
