Deep Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe is from the Hershey's chocolate lovers cookbook; they are my husbands favorite chocolate cookie. He doesn't care for nuts so the picture is without nuts. I've also made them with & without the chocolate chips; being a chocolate lover, I prefer them WITH the chips! They remind me of a little brownie - yum!!

  • 3/4 c
    (1 & 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2
  • 1 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    hershey's cocoa (unsweetened)
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make Deep Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies


  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugars and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed about 2 minutes until well blended. Add eggs; beat well.
  3. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder & salt; gradually add to butter mixture just until blended.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips & nuts (if using). Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. (I rolled these into little balls)
  5. Bake 7 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute & remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
