Ingredients

  • 1 c
    soft butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    light brown sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 3 c
    sifted flour
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    grd nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 3 c
    walnuts or pecans
  • 1 pkg
    red candied cherries
  • 1 pkg
    green candied cherries
  • 1/2 c
    raisins
  • 1/4 c
    light rum
  • 1 c
    chopped dates optional

How to Make Christmas Rocks

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light.
  2. Beat in eggs
  3. Add sifted dry ingredients and milk until well mixed.
  4. Pour batter over nuts and fruits and mix thoroughly.
    Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets.
    Bake for 20 -25 minutes at 325 degrees.
  5. While still warm sprinkle with rum.
