This recipe came from a red hat friend in Texas. The cookies are delightful. Friends who have said they don't like fruitcake like these little gems. Try them--you'll like them.

- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 cup bourbon*
- 1 1/2-2 cups sifted flour
- 1 pound pecan pieces
- 1 pound dates, chopped
- 1 pound chopped cherries
- 1 pound pineapple, mixed colors
How To Make christmas lizzies

Step 1Prepare fruit and nuts by mixing with half the flour.(keeps the fruit from becoming sticky)

Step 2Cream together the butter and sugar;add beaten eggs one at a time

Step 3Sift remaining flour with soda and salt and add to egg mixture. Add liquids and then add the fruits and nuts. (Mixture is very thick; use hands to mix.)

Step 4Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheets and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until medium brown.

Step 5*Orange juice may be substituted for the bourbon in this recipe.
