~ butter - nut balls ~
I love a not too sweet cookie and one that's tender and melts in your mouth. This is another one of my Grams recipes, that we enjoyed growing up. These cookies would make a great addition to your Holiday cookie trays. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 cup sofened, butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
- 21/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 2 cups fine chopped nuts
- IF WANTING TO MAKE AS MY DEAR FRIEND CAROL DID, WITH THE CHERRY. SIMPLY USE GLAZED CHERRIES CUT IN HALF AND PRESS INTO CENTER OF COOKIE, BEFORE BAKING.
How To Make ~ butter - nut balls ~

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degree F. In a medium bowl, cream butter and add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add yolks and lemon juice and beat until fluffy. Add half the flour , then the milk - beat and then add remaining flour. Blend this thoroughly.

Step 2Shape into balls the size of a walnut. Dip the balls into lightly beaten egg whites and roll in nuts to coat.

Step 3Place on a greased baking sheet, or parchment paper. Bake for 20 - 23 minutes. Carefully remove from sheet to cooling rack. Can dust with confectioner's sugar if desired.
