almond sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting
A combination of my two favorites-almond and cream cheese. These are tender sugar cookies, and the frosting is so yummy!

Ingredients
- COOKIE
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- FROSTING
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 16 ounces powdered sugar
- 2-4 tablespoons milk, as needed
- 1 dash food coloring
How To Make almond sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting

Step 1In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture in bowl, beating on low until mixed. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour.

Step 2To make frosting, with an electric mixture, beat cream cheese on high 1 minute. Add extract and powdered sugar, beating on low. Add milk gradually, beating, until thick but easy to spread. Add food coloring and mix. Chill until dough is chilled.

Step 3Heat oven to 350 degrees. Divide dough into thirds and roll out about 1/4 inch thick with a rolling pin, using flour to help keep from sticking. Transfer to ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove to rack to cool. Frost when cooled.
