Found this recipe in the back of one of my middle school notebooks written out in pencil. I can't even remember where it came from.

1 c
crisco or store brand shortenening -regular flavor
1 c
white granulated sugar
1 c
brown sugar packed firm
eggs room temp.
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1 1/2 c
ap flour
1 tsp
2 c
regular oats, not "quick cook"
2 c
pecans, in pieces
1 c
rice crispies (any brand)
1 c
coconut, flaked

How to Make Alabama Cookies


  • 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • 2Cream Crisco and sugars till combines.
  • 3Add Eggs and vanilla extract and beat well on medium speed.
  • 4Combine flour and salt in a separate bowl, then SLOWLY add to creamed mixture till they form a dough.
  • 5By hand add remaining ingredients and stir gently.
  • 6Dollop out by "old fashioned" tablespoons onto a lined cookie sheet for easier cleanup.
  • 7Bake each batch 10-12 minutes

    Cool 20 minutes.
