This is an old family's recipe - an ultimate chocolate rush; it's sweet, thick, gooey brownies - topped with chocolate chips, toasted pecans, english toffee and coconut.... over the years it has taken on many different versions - for it's up to one's own imagination and taste buds... my Mother always made her batch during the Christmas season - so thus the name...

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/3 c
    baking cocoa
  • 3/4 c
    cold butter
  • 1 can(s)
    14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 c
    coarsely chopped toasted pecans
  • 1/2 c
    coconut
  • 1/3 c
    english toffee or smashed up health bars

How to Make Mrs Claus's Chocolate Fix....

Step-by-Step

  1. In a food processor combine the flour, sugar and cocoa. Add the butter and process just until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Press firmly into a greased 13-by-9-inch baking pan.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  4. While crust is baking, combine condensed milk, vanilla and 1 cup of chocolate chips in a medium sauce pan.
  5. Heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth. Remove crust from oven and pour chocolate mixture over crust.
  6. Sprinkle with coconut, nuts and toffee bits and remaining chocolate chips.
  7. Press down firmly.
  8. Return to oven and bake for another 18-20 minutes.
