This recipe came from a very good family friend, and after eating it the very first time, I declared that she was from then on my official Birthday Cake baker. It became my go to pot luck dish and has always received rave reviews. I hope y'all like it, and let me know you think, and what topper you use.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick land a lakes butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 - eggs separated
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 - 16-oz. can of hershey's syrup

How To Make hershey cake

  • Step 1
Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt
  • Step 2
In a separate bowl cream together the butter and sugar. Add the egg yokes one at a time mixing well after each. Mix together with the flour mixture. Slowly add the syrup and beat until just blended
  • Step 3
With clean beaters, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the egg whites.
  • Step 4
Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes
  • Step 5
Let cool completely then frost with your favorite frosting. (I use Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge, but a nice vanilla frosting works just as well and creates a nice contrast. To make it a little more elegant and different, I have also served it unfrosted and topped with cherry pie filling.
