This is the favorite of a much-loved grandson, so it always gets pride of place on the Christmas buffet table.

Ingredients

  • 1 package cream cheese - regular or light - softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • FOR THE CUPCAKE
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 24 - hershey's kisses - unwrapped

How To Make chocolate cheesecake cupcakes

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin cups with paper liners.
  • Step 2
    Prepare filling. Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg and salt until smooth and creamy. Stir in chocolate chips, and set aside
  • Step 3
    For cupcakes, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in large owl. Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla, and beat for 3 minutes, til smooth.
  • Step 4
    Fill muffin cups 2/3 full with batter. Then spoon one level Tbsp. of filling into center of each cupcake.
  • Step 5
    Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until toothpick inserted in cake portion comes out clean. Just before removing from oven, set one candy kiss in center of each cupcake and bake a bit longer, to allow candy to soften.
  • Step 6
    Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes in pans. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
