Careful with how much flavoring you add, some may take more or less than others. I used a bit to much cinnamon in one batch it was okay for me but too hot for some. And the grape flavoring I had to add more .

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • - food coloring
  • - flavoring

How To Make hard tack candy

  • Step 1
    Add sugar, syrup, and water to a saucepan.
  • Step 2
    Boil until thermometer reaches 300-310° . If no thermometer, once a rolling boil stir with fork and let some drip into a cup of cold water if it crackles its good to go.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat and add flavoring and food coloring .
  • Step 4
    Pour the liquid into a greased cookie sheet.
  • Step 5
    Let harden , break into pieces and mix with powdered sugar.
