williamsburg rum butter sauce

I was given this recipe for the Rum butter sauce from a co-worker many years ago. A fiend of mine tried this and liked it. I hope you will too.

Ingredients

  • - 1 cup brown sugar light/dark
  • - 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • - 1/2 cup butter
  • - rind of 1 lemon plus 1/4 - 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • - 2 tbsp brandy
  • - 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • - 1/2 cup of light rum
  • - 2 tbsp dark rum,
  • - mincemeat pie, pound cake or christmas pudding

How To Make williamsburg rum butter sauce

  • Step 1
    Blend sugar, and cornstarch together in 1 cup boiling water.
  • Step 2
    Cook stirring over medium heat until thickened
  • Step 3
    Add lemon rind, lemon juice, brandy, nutmeg , light and dark rum
  • Step 4
    Cook 2 minutes, Stir
  • Step 5
    Serve hot over mincemeat pie, pound cake or Christmas pudding
  • Step 6
    Makes 3 cups of sauce
