I got from Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking. I change the sugar and salt so diabetic can have the cake.

Ingredients

eggs
1 c
sugar or splenda sugar
1 c
flour
1/2 tsp
salt or light salt
1 tsp
baking powder
3 Tbsp
warm water
1 tsp
lemon juice

How to Make Sponge Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Beat the eggs until thick and creamy. Add sifted sugar and beat well.
    Add warm water and lemon juice and beat again.
  • 2Sift the flour, add salt or light salt and baking powder and sift again.
    Combine dry ingredients with the mixture, a little at a time folding in gently.
  • 3When well blended pour in a ungreased pan with center tube.
    Bake in moderate 350F for 50 minutes.
