shoo fly cake
An old family favorite... This recipe makes its own crust and has the other two parts of a shoo fly pie -- the cake and the goo. If you like shoo fly pie, you'll like this!

Ingredients
- 1 pound light brown sugar
- 1/2 pound margarine or butter, softened
- 4 cups flour
- 2 cups turkey golden table syrup
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make shoo fly cake

Step 1Mix first 3 ingredients into small crumbs, reserving 2 cups for the top.

Step 2Tightly press the remainder into the bottom of a sprayed 13x9 pan.

Step 3Stir together the syrup, water, baking soda and salt. Pour onto the crumb layer.

Step 4Top with the reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until tops springs back like a regular cake.
