I got this recipe from a woman at church who said it's the best moist, rich chocolate cake ever. I believe her!

Ingredients

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 c
    baking cocoa powder
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, softened
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk, may need a little more.

How to Make Rich, homemade chocolate cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350. Spray a 9" x 13" pan w/ cooking spray. In lg bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, mayonnaise and water. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla. Beat until combined.
  2. Pour into pan, bake 25 mins, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter until creamy. Beat in powdered sugar, milk and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Frost cooled cake.
