This is a new peanut butter cake recipe with a taste of hot chocolate as the frosting.

Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 cup peanut butter chips
  • 3/4 cup Reese's pieces
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons cane sugar
  • 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • HOT CHOCOLATE FROSTING
  • 1 tube frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup chocolate milk
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 4 packages hot cocoa mix

How To Make peanut butter cake with hot chocolate frosting

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    To make the cake, coat a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray. Sprinkle peanut butter chips and Reese's pieces over the pan.
  • Step 3
    In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs and cane sugar. Beat with a electric mixer at medium speed for 3 minutes. Add crunchy peanut butter.
  • Step 4
    Beat again at low speed for 30 seconds until blended. Pour into a prepared baking pan.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted the center comes out clean. Cool completely 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
    To make hot chocolate frosting: combine whipped topping, cream cheese, chocolate milk, half and half and hot cocoa mix in a large bowl. Whisk together for 3 minutes until blended.
  • Step 7
    Spread the frosting evenly onto the cooled cake.
