this came from my Nana as one of her favorite recipes. we all love some time sprinke with powdered sugar or east with whipped cream

  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    cored peeled grated apples
  • 1
  • 1/4 c
    salad oil
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Nana's fresh apple cake


  1. preheat oven to 350. sift flour,salt and soda together. Place apples in a medium size bowl. Break egg,over apples add oil, sugar, cinnamon,nutmeg and nuts; blend thoroughly. Stir dry mixture into apple mixture just until flour is moist. The mixture will seem dry. Spread in a greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350 degree for 40-45 minutes. let stand 10 minutes before serving.
  2. I usaually double batch and put in 9x13 baking pan, because never enough
