Historical handwritten recipes give me immense JOY, excited to find this classic ~ wish I new more about it . Found on Pinterest .. I can't locate the original source. if you look @ photo 2 of this recipe you will find a TREASURE link to a historical archive of cookbooks via scrbd.. Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sweet milk
- 3 - eggs, separated
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 Then Sift flour & baking powder 3x

Step 2Beat egg whites stiff ~

Step 3Cream sugar, & butter VERY WELL .. Then add sweet milk. According to the Dairy Council of Wisconsin, the terms "sweet milk" and "sweet cream" were used to differentiate these items from cultured products like buttermilk and sour cream. When a recipe calls for sweet milk, it is referring to whole milk. When a recipe calls for sweet cream, it is referring to half-and-half cream or whipping cream, depending on the recipe. ~

Step 4Combine all ingredients .. EXCEPT YOLK > ie white cake .
