Mom's Chocolate Cake (8X8 pan)
1 1/4 cflour, sifted
1/2 cshortening or butter
1 tspbaking soda
1/2 tspbaking powder
1/4 ccocoa, unsweetened
1/2 csour cream or greek yogurt
1/2 cboiling water
1/2 tspvanilla extract
·powdered sugar to sprinkle on cake
How to Make Mom's Chocolate Cake (8X8 pan)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Boil water for 1/2 cup in recipe. Lightly grease 8x8 pan
- Cream sugar, eggs, shortening (or butter) and vanilla.
- In separate bowl sift together all dry ingredients.
Alternate mixing wet and dry ingredients. Add boing water last, mix until smooth.
- Pour into greased pan, bake for 25-30 minutes, check at 25 minutes with toothpick to see if the cake is done.
Cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
