mimi's sheet cake
I first had this cake at a church pot luck when I was in high school. I loved it then and my kids and grandkids love it now. Definitely a keeper in our family.

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- FROSTING INGREDIENTS
- 1 stick butter
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
How To Make mimi's sheet cake

Step 1Mix together flour and sugar well and set aside in large bowl.

Step 2In saucepan combine butter, shortening, cocoa and water and bring to boil. Pour over flour and sugar mixture, stirring well.

Step 3Add buttermilk with soda mixed into it, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla into bowl with the other ingredients and stir well. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake 25 minutes at 400 degrees.

Step 4Remove cake from oven when done and in saucepan melt butter and combine cocoa and milk. Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar and pecans and stir until desired consistency, adding more powdered sugar if needed and pour over cake while still warm.
