This is my favorite pound cake. The recipe has been in our family for years.

  • - 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • - dash of salt
  • - 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • - 3 sticks butter, softened
  • - 4 eggs
  • - 1 cup buttermilk
  • - 1 tablespoon lemon extract

How To Make lemon-buttermilk pound cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 10" bundt or tube pan. Combine flour, soda and salt; set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Add lemon extract. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
