    shortening
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    boiling water
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How to Make IOWA CHOCOLATE CAKE

Step-by-Step

  1. Cover shortening and sugar with boiling water. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, eggs and vanilla. And blend well. Bake at 375 degrees, 25-30 minutes in a 13x9-inch pan. Batter is thin. Test for doneness with toothpick. Makes 4-6 servings.
