Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (or mace)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 tablespoons sour milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
How To Make grandma's banana cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease and flour a 9 x 11 inch cake pan.

Step 2Cream together butter and sugar.

Step 3Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each egg.

Step 4Sift together flour, nutmeg OR mace, and salt. Add to wet mixture and mix well.

Step 5Dissolve baking soda in sour milk. (You can add a 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar to the milk to sour it if you don't have sour milk on hand.) Add to batter.

Step 6Mix in mashed bananas and vanilla.

Step 7Bake in 350 degree oven in a 9 x 11 inch cake pan for 45 minutes. Frost with cream cheese frosting.
