Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar, granulated
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 package bakers german sweet chocolate squares
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large egg whites
How To Make german chocolate cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350

Step 2Cream sugar and shortening together

Step 3mix dry ingredients together and then add to creamed mixture

Step 4Melt chocolate in 1/2 cup of boiling water and then add to cake

Step 5Add buttermilk and vanilla

Step 6Now lastly add 3 beaten egg whites

Step 7pour into 2, 9 inch greased and floured cake pans and bake 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Do not over bake.

Step 8Then ice with homemade boiled icing with coconut and chopped pecans
