Ingredients

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    shortening or butter
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    each cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    nuts (optional)
  • 2 c
    fresh apples, chopped fine or grated
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Fresh Apple Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix flour, salt and spices. Cream sugar and shortening. Beat eggs, add to creamed mixture; beat for 1 minute.
  2. Mix soda with water. Add dry ingredients alternately with apples and water/soda mixture. Add vanilla. Add nuts if desired.
  3. Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes to 1 hour until done.
