Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening or butter
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon each cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)
  • 2 cups fresh apples, chopped fine or grated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make fresh apple cake

  • Step 1
    Mix flour, salt and spices. Cream sugar and shortening. Beat eggs, add to creamed mixture; beat for 1 minute.
  • Step 2
    Mix soda with water. Add dry ingredients alternately with apples and water/soda mixture. Add vanilla. Add nuts if desired.
  • Step 3
    Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes to 1 hour until done.
