This was my brothers FAVORITE cake and he got it from my mom EVERY birthday of his life till he was 18, then only on special occasions. I loved the icing..I used to peel it off and leave the I eat the cake and leave the icing...LOL..ENJOY!!!!

  • 2 c
  • 2 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 1 stick
  • 1 c
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c
  • 2
    egg beaten
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract ( real)

  • 1 stick
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp
  • 1
    "box" powdered sugar, 1 use 2 cups adjust to your liking
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts,( whatever you like) i don't use these

How to Make Chocolate Cake Baked on a Cookie Sheet


  1. Sift together the sugar and flour. In a saucepan, bring to a boil the shortening, butter, water, and cocoa powder.
  2. Pour over flour mixture while still hot. Add the buttermilk, beaten eggs, soda and vanilla.
  3. Bake in a large cookie sheet with sides or 2 8x8 inch cake pans (its really better baked on a cookie sheet) Bake at 375" 15 to 20 minutes. While cake is baking make icing.
  4. Icing
    Bring to a boil the butter, coca and milk, add the powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts if your using. Spread over the cake while BOTH are hot....
  5. Cut yourself 4 pieces and hide in back of fridge...LOL
