Ingredients

1/2 cshortening

2 csugar

1large egg
-
1 tspvanilla

2 1/2 cflour

1 1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

3/4 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspcloves

1/2 tspallspice
-
1 1/2 capplesauce
-
1/2 cwater
-
1 craisins (soaked for 5 minutes in boiling water and drained)

1/2 cchopped walnuts or pecans, optional
How to Make Applesauce Cake
- Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with applesauce and water.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Bake in prepared layer pans at 350 degrees for 30 - 40 minutes or until they test done when inserting a toothpick. Can also be baked in a ring, 13x9 or loaf pans.
- Frost with buttercream frosting.
