I can't say why exactly, but I prefer these bars to cookies. If you haven't tried them, now is the time. And have a tall glass of cold milk handy.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 12 ounces (1 lg. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

How To Make yummy toll house bars

  • Step 1
    In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter, sugars, and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add egg; beat well.
  • Step 2
    Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Step 3
    Spread into a lightly greased 9x13x2" pan. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
