Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup real butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

How To Make walnut pots of gold

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, cream the butter and the 1 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3
    Blend the vanilla and egg.
  • Step 4
    Mix in the soda and salt, mix well.
  • Step 5
    Gradually add the flour into the creamed mixture, mix well.
  • Step 6
    Shape dough into one-inch balls, place balls two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Step 7
    With your thumb, press down a little dip into the center of each cookie.
  • Step 8
    In a different bowl, combine the walnuts, 1/2 c of brown sugar and the sour cream. Mix well.
  • Step 9
    Fill the dip in each cookie with about 1 teaspoon of the sour cream mixture.
  • Step 10
    Bake 10-14 minutes, or until delicately browned.
