the chewy oatmeal raisin cookie

This came from a magazine many years ago, and the folks at Crisco must have sponsored it because there is a pict of the crisco tub on the recipie. At the bottom of the recipie it says from the Silver Palate Cookbook. These also are a softer cookie.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter flavored crisco
  • 1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups quaker quick oats, not instant or old fashioned
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, optional

How To Make the chewy oatmeal raisin cookie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375°
  • Step 2
    Spray baking sheet with non stick spray.
  • Step 3
    Cream together the Butter Flavor Crisco, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large bowl.Beat at med speed until well blended.
  • Step 4
    Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt together.
  • Step 5
    Combine oats, flour mixture and cinnamon.
  • Step 6
    Stir in raisins, and nuts if using them.
  • Step 7
    Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended.
  • Step 8
    Drop by rounded tablespoons onto greased baking sheet and bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
