These taste similar to the Lofthouse cookies you buy at the grocery store, only much cheaper & you get a lot more cookies. They do not taste exactly like them, but close enough that my family loves them.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
  • 1 package cream cheese, room temperature (8 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar (16 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make soft sugar cookie bars

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 10 X 15 inch back pan, or jelly roll pan, with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Step 2
In large mixing bowl, cream sugar, butter, and cream cheese. Add vanilla and mix well.
  • Step 3
In separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix to combine.
  • Step 4
Spread mixture into prepared pan, it will be sticky (wetting your hands a bit helps keep more in the pan & less on your hands).
  • Step 5
Bake @ 350 for 20 - 25 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  • Step 6
Cool completely. When cookies are cooled, mix together all frosting ingredients, and frost cookies. Top with colorful sprinkles, optional.
