  • 3/4 c
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 large
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    flaked coconut
  • 1/2 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    maraschino cherries, chopped

How to Make Snowberries


  1. Beat shortening at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add the brown sugar, beating well. Add the egg, beating well.
  2. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Stir in the vanilla. Add coconut, pecans, and cherries; stir well.
  3. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
