secret ingredient oatmeal cookies
I have been making these cookies for my family and friends for about 15 years. They are always a big hit and the "secret ingredient" of frosted flakes gives them extra flavor and texture that everyone really enjoys.

Makes 3-4 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1 3/4 cups frosted flakes

Step 1Heat oven to 325*.

Step 2Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt; set aside.

Step 3Cream butter and shortening on low speed of a mixer until light and fluffy.

Step 4Gradually add sugar and brown sugar, beating well at medium speed.

Step 5Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Step 6Add flour mixture, mixing well.

Step 7Stir in oats and flakes.

Step 8Drop dough with a cookie scoop onto a greased pan. (I use foil and cooking spray for this.)

Step 9Bake for 12 minutes or until golden.

Step 10Allow to fully cool on wire racks.
