I have been making these cookies for my family and friends for about 15 years. They are always a big hit and the "secret ingredient" of frosted flakes gives them extra flavor and texture that everyone really enjoys.

Ingredients For secret ingredient oatmeal cookies

2 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking powder

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 cunsalted butter

1/2 csolid vegetable shortening

1 csugar

3/4 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

2eggs

1 tspvanilla extract

2 cquick cooking oats

1 3/4 cfrosted flakes
How To Make secret ingredient oatmeal cookies

1Heat oven to 325*.

2Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt; set aside.

3Cream butter and shortening on low speed of a mixer until light and fluffy.

4Gradually add sugar and brown sugar, beating well at medium speed.

5Beat in eggs and vanilla.

6Add flour mixture, mixing well.

7Stir in oats and flakes.

8Drop dough with a cookie scoop onto a greased pan. (I use foil and cooking spray for this.)

9Bake for 12 minutes or until golden.

10Allow to fully cool on wire racks.
