not just for christmas spritz cookies
I have made this recipe for years. I have tried others, but like this one best. They are not too sweet, but great flavor. I make them for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and even made them for my daughters graduation party. They are a family hit every time. They disappear first of all the cookies. Do not overcook.

How To Make not just for christmas spritz cookies
-
Step 1Stir together flour and baking powder. In a large mixer bowl beat butter or margarine till softened. Add sugar and beat till fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract and beat well. Gradually add flour mixture and beat till well mixed. To ensure easy passage through the cookie press, do not chill dough.
-
Step 2If desired, tint dough with food coloring. Force dough through a cookie press onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugars or dandies, if desired. Bake in a 400F oven for 7-8 minutes, or till lightly browned. Remove and cool.
