nana's special oatmeal cookies
These oatmeal cookies have been served to us by my mother since I was a child. I can't say it's an original, but no one has ever told me they make the same kind, yet. They hold a special place in my heart and they make me feel like I was a kid again.

Ingredients
- 3 cups shortening, butter flavor
- 4 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 - egg
- 2 - bananas, mashed
- 1 cup water
- 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 12 cups old fashioned oats
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- - nuts
- - chocolate chips
- - coconut
How To Make nana's special oatmeal cookies

Step 1Beat shortening, sugars (brown & granulated), eggs, water, bananas and vanilla together til creamy.

Step 2Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in Oats.

Step 3Add nuts, coconut, chocolate chips to taste. More the merrier.

Step 4Make mixture rolls about 2" wide by 6" long using waxed paper. You should have enough for 2 or more rolls.

Step 5Refrigerate overnight. Slice while firm and bake in 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
