This simple cookie is the "Crown Jewel" of all the family favorites. Through the years family members would just ask for these as their Christmas present! I like to use European, higher fat content butter. It is more like the butter my grandmother would have used all those years ago in Wisconsin.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup cold butter
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups old fashioned oatmeal

How To Make muz's oatmeal cookies

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Mix ingredients together like you would do with a pie crust.
Step 3

Roll into 1" balls, and place a bit apart on the cookie sheet.
Step 4

Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes.
