mom's hermits

This is my mom's recipe. She is known in her church for making these for bake sales.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

With a light molasses flavor, these old-fashioned cookies are an absolute dream to eat. They have the flavor and spices of a molasses cookie, like ground ginger, cinnamon and clove, with walnuts and raisins mixed in. When baked, they're slightly crisp on the outside and chewy inside. An egg wash adds a nice sheen to the hermit cookies.
