molasses crinkles
This is one of my all time FAVORITE cookies and my grandmother always made them just for me! These are thick, chewy with crackled sugary tops! Nice rich flavor!

About 4 dozen 2 1/2" cookies
Ingredients
- MIX THOROUGHLY:
- 3/4 cup soft shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- SIFT TOGETHER AND STIR IN:
- 2 1/4 cups sifted gold medal flour
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves, ground
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
- 1 teaspoon ginger, ground
How To Make molasses crinkles

Step 1Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts Dip tops in sugar. Place sugared side up, 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface

Step 2Bake just until set but not hard. 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
