These are unlike any peanut butter cookies you have ever eaten. They literally melt in your mouth and have a creamy, slightly grainy texture that is out of this world. I dare you to try and eat just one!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crisco shortening
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make mel-in-your-mouth peanut butter cookies

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 325?F.
  • Step 2
    In electric mixer cream the shortening and peanut butter, then add the brown sugar and beat until well mixed.
  • Step 3
    Place flour, baking soda, and salt in a sifter and sift into bowl while the beaters are running.
  • Step 4
    When thoroughly mixed take a small amount (about 1 Tbs.) in your hand and roll into a small ball, then place on greased cookie sheet and, using a fork, slightly flatten the cookies, making a cross pattern with the fork.
  • Step 5
    Bake on middle rack of oven for 15-20 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Cool on cookie sheet for 5-10 minutes. Makes approx. 24 cookies
