ma's old-fashion oatmeal and raisin cookies

My Ma would make these when we were kids~there are 7 of us~this recipe makes a lot of cookies. She was hoping they would last a day or two and they did.

Ingredients

  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • CREAM THESE ABOVE TOGETHER
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups oatmeal, uncooked
  • TAKE RAISINS AND BRING THEM TO A FULL BOIL IN PAN OF WATER.
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins

How To Make ma's old-fashion oatmeal and raisin cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream the first ingredients. Add flour in intervals with milk, mix well stir in uncooked oatmeal.
  • Step 2
    Scoop or spoon onto parchment paper cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes.
  • Step 3
    I always put a piece of bread wrapped in a napkin in the bottom of my cookie jar~the bread will keep your cookies,bars etc. soft.
