madeleine's thumb print cookies
These are favorites of mine! Mom filled the thumbprints with homemade icing rather than jelly. This recipe is never enough; at least double it!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 - egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- - egg whites
- - chopped pecans
How To Make madeleine's thumb print cookies

Step 1Mix butter, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Sift flour and salt together and stir into above. Roll into small balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg whites. Roll into pecans. Bake 1" apart on ungreased sheet pan at 375 degrees. Bake 5 min. Make thumb print and bake an additional 8 min. Cool and ice.
