Another oldie recipe from my old recipe box. My family loved them.
You can healthify the recipe by using coconut oil, hemp hearts, and some whole wheat flour.

raisins
1 c
water
1 c
shortening or 1 c. coconut oil
2 c
white sugar or combination white and brown
1 tsp
vanilla extract
3
eggs
4 c
flour or 3 c. white flour + 1 c. whole wheat
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
salt
1 1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
nutmeg
1/4 tsp
allspice, ground
1 c
chopped nuts (optional)
1 Tbsp
hemp hearts (optional)

How to Make Jumbo Raisin Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Boil together raisins and water for 5 minutes.Cool
  • 2Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add cooled raisins and juice.
  • 3Sift together remaining ingredients except for nuts.
  • 4Add nuts, mix well and drop by teaspoonful on greased baking sheet.
    Bake at 375 F for 12- 15 minutes or until done.
