holiday shortbread
My family and friends loves my shortbread and I make them for Christmas and it is so easy to make shortbread and it is so delicious to dip in coffee or milk. We love it!!

Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 - egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - egg white
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup red and / or green tinted sugar
How To Make holiday shortbread

Step 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13 × 9-inch baking pan.

Step 2Combine butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer set at low speed until creamy.

Step 3Add flour to butter mixture and mix well. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla extract. Spread in prepared baking pan.

Step 4Beat egg white in a small bowl until foamy. Spread on top of dough with a pastry brush. Sprinkle the almonds and tinted sugar on top.

Step 5Bake until lightly browned, about 25 minutes. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
