My sister has a life long bud, Mary Jane who had a Grandma Parsons that loved to bake. Grandma Parsons gave this recipe to my Mom, and so there cookies have been in both families for several generations now. These cookies are moist and loaded with fruits,nuts and dates, a perfect Christmas combination.

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 2 - eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved
- 2 cups dates, chopped

Step 1Sift together flour, soda, salt. Set aside.

Step 2Cream butter, brown sugar, eggs. Mix til light and fluffy

Step 3Add creamed mixture alternately with flour mixture, then add buttermilk.

Step 4Stir in nuts, cherries, dates.

Step 5Drop by teaspoons on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Step 6Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or unti lightly browned.
