My grandmother had the biggest sweet tooth I've ever seen. She always had at least three different kinds of sweets/baked goods on the counter at one time. She loved these cookies and made them, I think, mostly for herself, all the time. My sister loved cherries and couldn't get enough. Enjoy~
Sift Flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Cream together shortening and sugar together until creamy, blend in eggs, one at a time, add milk and vanilla, mix until blended, a minute or two.
2Blend in sifted ingredients, a quarter at a time and mix well. Add in pecans, dates, and chopped maraschino cherries and mix well.
3Shape dough into balls using a level tablespoon. Roll each ball of dough in the corn flakes. Place on greased baking sheet. Top each cookie with a quarter maraschino cherry. Bake in oven 10-12 minutes. Enjoy~
