Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • extra sugar for dipping

How To Make ginger molasses cookies

  • Step 1
    Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger together; set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, egg and molasses together. Then gradually stir the dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Mix well.
  • Step 3
    Roll into 1 inch balls, dip into sugar and place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Press once with a fork to slightly flatten. * Dip the fork into some flour to keep from sticking to the little balls.
  • Cooling on a rack.
    Step 4
    Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven, for 10 minutes. Don't over bake, remove from the oven while still soft.
