This recipie was gave to me by my Grand Mother Deleplain..She died about 15 years ago, I like the idia of handing down recipies from one generation to the next.

1/3 c
shortening
1/2 c
sugar
1
egg
1/2 c
malasses
1/2 c
hot water
2 c
flour
1 tsp
ginger
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
nutme
1/2 tsp
cloves
1/2 tsp
cinnamon

VANILLA BUTTER FROSTING

3 Tbsp
butter softened
1 1/2 c
confectioners sugar
3/4 tsp
vanilla
1 Tbsp
milk

How to Make Genger Cream Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix shortening, sugar, egg, and water together. Blend in the remaining ingredients. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for one hour.
  • 2Heat oven to 400 degresse, drop dough by teaspoons on a greased baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Place on a rack to cool.
  • 3Mix the vanilla butter frosting ingredents together and frost the cooled cookies, let stand for frosting to set.
