I've been making these Egg Nog sugar cookies for years for the Holiday's. Friends and family LOVE them.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    margarine and butter (mixed)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    grated lemon rind
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • BUTTER FROSTING

  • 1/4 lb
    butter (not margarine)
  • 1 lb
    powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • ·
    milk
  • ·
    nutmeg

How to Make Egg Nog Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix margarine and butter, salt, lemon rind, nutmeg, sugar, eggs, and milk together well.
  2. Add sifted dry ingredients.
  3. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets. Bake 350 degrees 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  4. FROSTING: Heat butter to melt, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk until it is of spreading consistency. When cookies are cool, frost with butter frosting and sprinkle with small amount of nutmeg.
