This is an old recipe, because Grandma W suggested "For a festive look, add food color to the sugar you flatten the cookies with before baking." Now that there are so many fun options for colored sugar crystals, your options are endless and easy!

How to Make Easy Sugar Cookies, Grandma W


  1. Cream shortening, oil, sugar and powdered sugar. Add eggs. Sift together soda, tartar, salt and flour. Combine with creamed mixture and add vanilla. Roll into balls and flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees 12 min.
